Electrotherapy & Modalities

Advanced electrotherapy and physical modalities for pain relief, muscle re-education, and accelerated healing.

About This Service

Electrotherapy and physical modalities are powerful adjuncts to hands-on physiotherapy. Used correctly, they accelerate tissue healing, reduce pain and inflammation, prevent muscle atrophy, and facilitate neuromuscular re-education.

Our clinic is equipped with the latest electrotherapy equipment, and our therapists are trained in the precise application of each modality to maximise its therapeutic effect. Electrotherapy is always used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan—never as a standalone solution.

We explain exactly what each device does and why we are using it so you understand your treatment at every stage.

1Modalities Available

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) – Proven pain relief via sensory nerve stimulation
Interferential Therapy (IFT) – Deep tissue pain reduction and anti-inflammatory effect
Ultrasound Therapy – Promotes soft tissue healing and reduces chronic inflammation
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) – Prevents disuse atrophy, re-educates paralysed muscles
Laser (Low-Level Laser Therapy) – Accelerates cellular repair in tendons, ligaments, and wounds
Wax Bath – Moist heat to relieve joint stiffness, especially in the hands and feet
Traction – Spinal decompression for disc and nerve root conditions

2Who Benefits from Electrotherapy?

Electrotherapy is beneficial for a wide range of patients:

Patients with acute injuries needing rapid pain control
Neurological patients requiring muscle re-education
Post-surgical patients to limit swelling and promote healing
Chronic pain patients who have not responded to other approaches
Athletes needing accelerated tissue repair

All modalities are contraindicated in certain situations (e.g., pacemakers, pregnancy, active malignancy). Our therapists complete a thorough screening before applying any electrotherapy.
